Over Easter, we finally bought a new cookware set that we had been looking at for a while — a 4-piece set from Fissler’s Original-Profi Collection, and we got it at a really good price. The cute easter chickens was not included though…

So far, it feels very promising.

The Original-Profi series is made in Germany and crafted from 18/10 stainless steel, with a heavy CookStar® base designed for even heat distribution on all stovetops, including induction. It also has those thoughtful details that already make cooking feel easier, like the measurement markings inside and sturdy handles that feel very secure.

What we really like so far is how solid and high-quality everything feels. The pots have a nice weight to them and seem built to last for many years.

Before this, we’d been cooking with a mix of pieces collected over time — some non-stick that had started to show wear, a couple of older stainless pots from before we moved, and one pan that always stuck no matter what. None of it was really bad, but we’d been thinking about replacing the set for a while and just hadn’t found the right moment.

Fissler had been on our shortlist for months. The Original-Profi line in particular has that workhorse quality — slightly heavy, clearly overbuilt, the sort of thing that doesn’t look precious but will outlive us. When we handled the pieces in person, the weight and construction felt right.

Getting it on sale made the decision easy.

The first few cooks have gone well. Heat comes up evenly, and the CookStar base really does hold temperature — once you’ve brought a sauce to a simmer, the pan stays there without constant adjusting. The measurement markings on the inside of the pots have already been more useful than we expected; less reaching for a measuring jug, fewer dishes afterward.

Cleaning has been easy so far. Nothing has stuck badly enough to need soaking, and the stainless handles don’t get hot in the way that lighter pans sometimes do. The only small note is that the pots are heavier than what we were used to, which takes a day or two of adjustment when moving them from stove to sink.

We haven’t had them long enough to say how they’ll wear in over years, but everything about the set feels like it was built for that kind of timeframe.

It already feels like one of those home purchases that we’ll be happy we made for a long time.
